The Outreach Department at LSD offers services all throughout Louisiana through two different pathways: early intervention services (birth to 5), and pre-K-12th support.
Early intervention services are available for free to families with deaf and hard of hearing children from birth up to age 5 or school entry, whichever occurs first. Our program is called the Parent Pupil Education Program (PPEP). This program offers parent education and support regarding their child’s: language development, communication opportunities, amplification devices, services in the region, and transition into school. To refer a student, please use the intake form.
Pre-K-12 support services are available to school districts, LEAs, and educational professionals serving deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Consultations are available to provide support regarding students’ IEPs, accessibility in the classroom environment, and to the curriculum, language development, and more. To request a consult or visit, please use the form available here.
