Mr. & Miss Deaf Teen America Pageant

03/16/2011

The Mr. & Miss Deaf Teen America Pageant is a fun annual event for deaf and hard of hearing teens, ages 13-19, from organizations, programs, and schools for the deaf. The pageant brings teens together for spirited competition and friendship while giving them an opportunity to develop leadership qualities, learn teamwork and social skills, enhance their self-esteem, and appreciate diversity.

LSD participated in this event for the first time last year, capturing the 3rd place trophy.  This year, Kendell and Paige will be representing our school in the 13th Annual Mr. & Miss Deaf Teen America Pageant which is being held at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis.  Contestants will compete as a team, competing in the following categories:  state spirit, platform presentation, talent performance, and formal wear.  In addition, each candidate will have a  private interview the day before the pageant and an interview on stage during the pageant.

We would like to wish Kendell and Paige, along with sponsors Ellitre Robinson and Brian Kelson, the best of luck!  Regardless of the outcome, these two students will certainly take home memories and friendships which will last a lifetime.
