Statewide Assessment Center for the Hearing Impaired

(SWAC-HI)

The SWAC-HI team conducts evaluations of students with hearing impairments (Deaf or Hard of Hearing) enrolled at LSD and/or enrolled in parish school systems throughout the state.

Evaluations are conducted using the student's primary mode of communication. Parents are offered information regarding various philosophies of education of the deaf, including explanations of various modes of communication and discussions regarding the Least Restrictive Environment for their child.
